Shohei Ohtani is 4-for-7 with three triples and one home run with a 1.857 slugging percentage against Tyler Anderson in his career. His total bases prop line is inflated. The weather is cooler than average, which will suppress the baseball, although it may not matter. I like his stolen bases prop as Ohtani hasn’t recorded a stolen base in 10 straight games. Tyler Anderson has allowed 20 steals, the second most over the last two seasons. He’s allowed 17 walks in 8 games. I can see Ohtani getting on base via a walk and then stealing a base. I think it’s a nice plus money opportunity.
Last night withstanding, we've usually trusted the Padres at Petco Park, where they're 16-6 this season, and reminded how they could bounce back from a stinging loss at home earlier this week when beating the Angels in the last two of their midweek set. Nick Pivetta has also experienced a lot more success on the mound at Petco, where he's 4-0 with a 1.42 ERA this season, and should get more support than Stephen Kolek last night, when the Padres didn't score until the ninth inning. They should do better tonight vs. Seattle's Emerson Hancock, off of a difficult outing vs. the Yankees on Monday when he allowed three homers in just 5 IP of an eventual 11-5 loss. Definitely lost on the Padres on Friday, but this just makes me like them better on Saturday. Yeah, one game in theory should not influence the next, but I think it depends. It was a bad loss and the bullpen got reset for SD. Punt game. I honestly had forgotten this is the "Vedder Cup" series. Dunno, I don't like coffee or flannel. But I do like Pearl Jam (who doesn't?): "I'll ride the wave where it takes me." I try to live my life that way ...
